From Monday 18th March to Friday 22nd March 2013, the inaugural Links Golf Cup, a 72 hole amateur stableford tournament, will take place over the magnificent courses of Gullane No.1, Gullane No.2, Longniddry, and North Berwick, on Scotland’s Golf Coast in East Lothian. Regarded by many to be the finest stretch of links golf in Britain, these spectacular links courses will provide the setting for competitors to battle it out for the right to lift the specially commissioned trophy. Designed to offer golfers opportunities beyond just playing great golf courses under tournament conditions, The Links Golf Cup is a unique occasion. Along with the challenge to compete at some of the finest links in Scotland, amateur club golfers will enjoy a welcome reception, presentation dinner, sightseeing opportunities, and golf schools.
Schedule
The Welcome Reception and Gala Prize Presentation Dinner will take place in the Bass Rock Suite at the Macdonald Marine Hotel & Spa, a fine hotel in North Berwick with a spectacular seafront location offering stunning views across the West Links out to the Firth of Forth. Located just 30 minutes from Edinburgh, the hotel is an ideal base for competitors and Links Golf Cup entrants can take advantage of preferential room rates at this host venue. The tournament itself will be played over 72 holes, and spread across five days. Competitors will play one round on each of the four great championship courses - Gullane No.1, Gullane No.2, Longniddry, and North Berwick.
With no competitive golf planned, Wednesday 20th March is a rest day, and guests can use this time as they please. Naturally Edinburgh and the surrounding areas provide many options, whether it be sightseeing, shopping, relaxing at the hotel, or perhaps a walk along the spectacular East Lothian coastline. Alternatively, with more than 20 fantastic courses in the East Lothian region of Scotland within just 20 miles, you can always decide to play some more golf!
